Thankfully,Ghostbusters: Frozen Empirehas a more definitive ending thanGhostbusters: Afterlife.
Well discuss it all below which, of course, requires spoilers.
So lets take this in order.
What’s next for the Ghostbusters?Image: Sony
At least we think it does.
Its not explained incredibly clearly but Garraka does seem to let all the ghosts out of the unit.
The implication is theres a lot of work for the Ghostbusters to do now.
Could Kumail Nanjiani’s character be the next villain?Image: Sony
Much more than before.
So, theres your first seed of what could come next.
They need to redo all the work of the past 40 years.

Another seed comes in the casting of James Acaster, Kumail Nanjiani, and Patton Oswalt.
I hope were lucky enough to make more.
And I wouldnt count any of them out,he told io9.
Acaster and Oswalts roles seem fairly straightforward.
But then theres Nanjianis Nadeem Razmaadi, and we think theres more to him than many might realize.
But whats next after that?
With a superhuman ability to manipulate fire, Nadeem wouldnt just a Ghostbuster.
Hes a super Ghostbuster.
Or, and stay with us here, maybe hes the next villain.
A shy, poor, single guy realizes he has superpowers and now can do anything he wants?
Thats the origin story for like every single villain in the history of comics.
Something to consider for sure.
Finally, theres that end-credits sequence.
The whole thing is played as a joke but lets think about it a bit.
The Mini-Pufts have, to this point over two films, been mostly comic relief.
They cause a little chaos and a few annoyances, but thats it.
Whats their endgame though?
Do they act like a colony of ants?
Either one seems possible.
Plus, Nadeem controls fire, right?
Marshmallows and fire go together quite well.
And if its not, its just nice to know the Ghostbusters are back and on the case.
