Germain Lussier, io9: So were just gonna dive right in.

Jon Hurwitz:That was a big discussion that started with Ralph Macchio.
Its always a challenge, that stuff.
io9: Do you have to talk to Pat Moritas family or do they have any control over that?

But the rights were all handled appropriately.
Thats a relationship we in particular want to continue to cultivate.
So theres the business side and theres the emotional side.

Does that factor in at all?
We know everything about Miyagi thats been said from the movies.
So theres a lot of creative freedom there.

But we know that when we meet him in 1984, he doesnt have a family.
He doesnt seemingly have a lot going on in his life.
So we just piece together things that we thought would make sense and that would be interesting.

Hurwitz:I also want to just chime in here.
Murder is a very strong word
io9: [All laugh] Youre right, thats true.
Heald:That intimates some kind of pre-meditation.

Were getting bits and pieces from the past and from relics and stuff like that.
Maybe he did murder the guy!
But we dont know exactly what happened there as of right now.

Well, the three of us might know.
Heald:I know what happened.
Hurwitz:But that doesnt mean that the audience knows.
Schlossberg:Its out ofGame of Thrones.
He crushed his head.
[All laugh.]
io9: Well, we know that he can kill people, right?
Hes joked about it in the movies.
Hurwitz:Yeah, we were going to bring Terry Silver back this whole time.
Hes like, I dont know what to do.
How am I going to come back?
Were like, Your storys not finished.
Schlossberg:That was in season five when we were writing and realized he would be going to jail.
I just felt like theres no way he stays.
You got lots of money, why are you doing this?
Heald:Hayden would have made a great defense attorney just in general.
Talk about the decision to take that big step and actually kill someone, especially Kwon.
Okay, weve already thrown a kid off a balcony, maybe this one actually dies!
I mean Barnes comes in in episode four and says Yeah, people have died.
It was just unbelievable.
That kept coming up.
But he was phenomenal.
io9: Okay, finally, the biggest question: who farted in the hotel room?
Hurwitz:We all feel differently, I think.
The first two-thirds of Cobra Kais sixth and final seasonare now on Netflix.
The mythical final five episodes of the show will debut in 2025.
