But it was all quite fluid and flexible.

And also we could go to her for any questions we had because shes just so knowledgeableshe is aDuneencyclopedia.
That was so brilliant to have, and I think thats exactly what we needed.
And that will then naturally develop into something else.

Can you talk about the contrasts between your characters and also what common ground they share?
I think theyre all curious in their own ways.
Hinds:They come from very different backgrounds.

I think theyre kind of like, We have to get to the bottom of this together.
Whatever way they respond to that, theyve experienced that together.
io9: Can you describe their feelings at the moment when they witness Lilas death?

But like when you see someone die, its just a different thing, right?
And its just happening there and then and its in the present tense.
Hinds:Definitely, shock.
They have achieved that, but she has died as the collateral.
Theres that part of it thats also opened up, I think, very much forward from this point.
I think theyre just gonna have to strap in.
