The Texas measles outbreak has been ongoing since mid-January.
Its largely affected people living in Mennonite communities in rural western Texas, many of whom are unvaccinated.

The outbreak has also spread to neighboring regions of New Mexico, with 33 reported cases so far.
Because measles is highly contagious, it can quickly spread through communities with relatively low vaccination rates.
Even a month ago, the outbreak was the largest seen in the state in nearly 30 years.
In its advisory, the CDC says the outbreak is continuing to expand rapidly.
This year, there have been measles cases reported in 13 states.
He has also recently toutedscientifically unsupported treatmentsfor measles, such as cod liver oil supplements.
For its part, the CDCclearly statesthat the MMR vaccine remains the most important tool for preventing measles.
