It blewthe roof off the conventionduring a presentation that went heavy on cool genre horror.
Warner Bros. put on a solid presentation at CinemaCon with footage from anticipated release, includingSupermanandF1.
But horror was foremost on the agenda with three movies standing above the rest.
Maggie Gylenhaal and Jessie Buckley for The Bride!Image: Warner Bros.
One wasWeapons, the second fromBarbariandirector Zack Cregger.
Well, in the first footage shown at CinemaCon, we got an idea why.
Weaponscenters on a teacher played by Julia Garner.
One day, she goes to school and everything seems normal except none of her kids are in class.
All the other students in the school are therebut for some reason, hers are all missing.
Next wasThe Bride!, starring Jessie Buckley and Christian Bale.
She then realized the titular Bride is only in the movie for a few minutes and never speaks.
Well, Gyllenhaals Bride does speak.
The words electric and punk rock came up a lot and rightfully so.
(Watch the trailer to explain.)
They know they can do so by either killing someone themselvesor dying, then coming back to life.
The beauty of aFinal Destinationmovie is the detail and subtlety with which death occurs and this is no different.
We learn that one has a deadly peanut allergy, so they go to the vending machine for peanuts.
They debate the peanut death, completely oblivious to the machine thats continuing to power up.
Eventually, the one brother eats the candy and starts to die.
His brother tries to fight him off from using his medicine but the brother persists.
In the struggle, the MRI machine continues to build up power and, therefore, becomes basically magnetic.
The overrides get bypassed, and things get taken to the next level.
The brother without the allergy starts to get drawn into the MRI machine because hes pierced everywhere.
First, his earrings rip out.
Then, well, other parts are going lower and lower.
He dies but his brother gets his medicine and is free from the peanuts.
And reading all that cant even begin to explain how tense and gross it is.
I watched all theFinal Destinationmovies recently, and this death is right near the top of the list.
